Note: the login credentials for cPanel will also grant FTP access to the site.
For uploading files on FTP you will need to have installed an FTP client and you will also need the login credentials that we provided you into the ticket system.
This chapter will explain how to use 2 FTP free clients to access your site. The FTP clients that we recommend, use and explain how they work are:
- FileZilla – here you can view the FileZilla documentation
- WinSCP – here you can view the WinSCP documentation
Notes:
- the FTP will not work directly from browser. To connect to the FTP account for large files upload, you need to install and use a FTP Client.
- There are many FTP clients available on the internet, paid or free. You can try this open source one FileZilla at http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client.
- Make sure the port is 21 (FTP) port. Some ftp clients may connect to port 22 (SSH port).
- Try either “active” and “passive” connection. Depending on your FTP client, one or the other will work (for example, Filezilla will work with “active”, as tested).
