The Address Verification Service (AVS) is a system designed by bankcard processors to aid in the detection of suspicious credit card transaction activity. AVS matches billing address information provided by the cardholder with the cardholder’s billing address on file at the credit card issuing bank.
If Authorize.net Suspicious Transactions report indicates an error message on some failed transactions like: “Authorization with the card issuer was successful but the transaction was declined due to an address or ZIP code mismatch with the address on file with the card issuing bank based on the settings in the Merchant Interface”, then you may need to adjust the settings of the AVS (Address Verification Service) filter.
If AVS settings are very strict, some transactions may not be processed as expected, therefore some adjustments need to be made. The settings for this filter can be more flexible and so transactions will be more successful.
