Using a Variable Bitrate Stream

If you are using a variable bitrate encoder while streaming with the HD Wave or other supported broadcasters, you will notice that the bitrate may be dropping.

When the video changes from static images to video, you will notice that the bitrate will go up and down. This is okay due to variable bitrate streaming.

When the stream has constant video source, the QOS will show a consistent stream, like our Help Desk Channel:

 

A broadcast with insufficient bandwidth, as example:

-Stream is set to 2.0 mbps
– Highest the encoder gets to is 1.0 mbps

This problem is due to the network, and you need to lower the bitrate of the stream from the broadcaster application.

Another item that may appear is with the stream which drops in speed, but not due to static images. In this case, the encoding requirements is not the cause, the network is.
